A little quote that I want to remember everyday...

If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly.

Tuscany

Our first morning in Florence we headed up to Fiesole- a picturesque hill top town north of Florence. This is a picture from the hill top looking down onto Florence. The farmers have controlled burning every day so unfortunately it's always hazy.

From Fiesole we started our nature walk where we saw the spot where Leonardo Da Vinci conducted his historic flying machine experiments.

This is one of the cliffs were Leonardo's flying machine experiment took place. It was not successful as the poor soul who agreed to test the machine fell to his death. These were also some of the quarries for the statues and buildings in Florence.

View of Tuscany.

View of Florence.

The following 2 pictures are of the grand Renaissance Villa that we visited. The beautiful gardens were featured in two famous films 'A Room With a View' and 'Tea with Mussolini'. This is where we had lunch with delicious olive oil and wine.

This was a little church we passed on our way down from the Villa. These churches were built for a few families so they wouldn't have to travel far to attend church.
